For this project, our focus was on capturing the sense of isolation and intimacy that defines this remarkable coastal retreat by Patterson Associates. Nestled into the cliffs of New Zealand's South Island and partially embedded within the landscape, the cabin was designed as a secluded hideaway for honeymooners. We worked to convey both its privacy and drama, a structure at once sheltered and exposed, surrounded by raw terrain and open sea. The RED Raptor and RED Komodo paired with Sigma Cine Zooms let us move through the space with care, drawing out the textures of stone, timber and the rugged cliff face that surrounds it. Sweeping aerials on the DJI Mavic Series revealed the hidden cove below and the sheer vastness of the land around it, communicating just how far from the world this place truly is.
