For this project, our focus was on the full arc of making, from raw earth extracted from the hills of Tuscany to the finished terracotta that ends up on floors and walls around the world. Produced for Artedomus as part of their Expert Series, the film follows the Manetti family and their artisans at the Cotto Manetti factory in Greve in Chianti, tracing a centuries-old craft through the hands of the people who still practice it. We moved through the clay pits, kilns and workshop with the RED Raptor and RED Komodo paired with Sigma Cine Zooms, shooting handheld to stay close to the work. The DJI Mavic Series placed the factory within the rolling vineyards and light of the Chianti countryside.
