For this project, our focus was on the depth of character that accumulates when a home has been lived in, loved and carefully reimagined over decades. Originally designed by Herb Hafif in the 1970s, the Claremont Residence is a richly tactile composition of redwood, river stone and curved forms set within a canopy of mature trees in Claremont, California. Restored and sensitively expanded by Barbara Bestor of Bestor Architecture, the home holds its original organic spirit while carrying the full weight of a life spent collecting art and ideas. The RED Raptor and RED Komodo paired with Sigma Cine Zooms let us move slowly through its layered interiors, tracing the warmth of timber grain and stone against paintings, objects and afternoon light. Aerials on the DJI Mavic Series revealed the home nestled deep within its garden, almost entirely consumed by the trees surrounding it.
