For this project, our focus was on capturing the remarkable relationship between exposure and shelter that defines Kawakawa House. Designed by Herbst Architects entirely around a canopy of ancient protected pōhutukawa trees, the home sits perched above Piha's iconic black sand beach, hidden within the bush yet open to the full drama of the New Zealand coastline. The RED Raptor and RED Komodo paired with Sigma Cine Zooms drew out the texture of dark timber against lush native vegetation and the quality of light filtering through the canopy. Aerials on the DJI Mavic Series traced the coastline from Lion Rock across the bush-clad hillside, revealing just how quietly this house hides.
